The Real Rexburg and Bountiful Baskets

Brian and I love the weekend. With him working full-time and me with full-time school and two part-time jobs, it's rare that we spend quality time together during the week. Saturdays are usually filled with cleaning the house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and...yeah. That's about it. Then our day of bliss is over, and in rolls Sunday...which is also nice, don't get me wrong. (:

I think Brian offers his most grateful prayers on Friday night and Saturday morning. He's just so excited to be able to sleep past his 6:30 alarm! Haha just kidding...but seriously. His prayers are extended significantly on these days. He takes his sleep-in time very seriously. So you can imagine how inexplicably overjoyed he was when I told him that our very first Bountiful Baskets pick-up as a married couple would be at 7:00 AM Saturday morning. Oh, wait. That was me. I was super excited, but Brian...not so much. To give him some credit though, he could have just sent me out alone. What a good husband he is to venture out with me for the sake of healthy-ness.

This morning dawned as usual, at 6:30 (except I did get to sleep in). We opened our rested eyes, stretched our cramped bodies, and bid good morning to each other with the scent of lilacs and honey in the air and freshly-growth mint on our breath.

As we ventured out of our apartment, we found what we have been waiting for since November. A blizzard. Those of you who know Rexburg winters will understand. Others who need a more detailed explanation will just have to rely on their imagination. It's the wind that does the damage. It picks up the little icicles that have fallen from the sky and it claws them against your exposed skin like the meeting of the Titanic and the iceberg. Winter had finally come. (For the record, it has been cold and snowy...just much more mild than usual.)

Our pick up place for Bountiful Baskets is maybe a block away, so we didn't have far to go. It ended up being completely worth it though! Behold, our truly bountiful laundry basket:

We really picked a good week to be impressed. Red-leaf lettuce, leeks, broccoli, pineapple, apples, oranges, bananas, gold potatoes, eggplant (Brian's FAVORITE!!), and colored carrots (which made me the most excited. We even got a purple one)! We will definitely be going back next week, and hopefully it's a little less blizzard-y outside.

Also, we're pregnant. No, just kidding. Most of you know, but Brian got accepted to BYU-Idaho! School starts in September, so if anyone knows of a full-time job in Rexburg, we'll be here for awhile. This is him and his electronic acceptance letter.
